More than an Action Plan
Depending on your organisation, you may need an equality scheme and not just an action plan…
Legislation in some diversity areas requires public bodies to produce equality schemes, not just action plans. The requirements of the legislation for each area are slightly different.
Each act, to a greater or lesser extent, emphasises three aspects which go over and above the traditional ‘action planning’ process, although all schemes require a detailed action plan as part of their delivery strategy.
The direct involvement, not just consultation, of groups and individuals who are specifically affected by the schemes is required. This needs to include people both inside and outside of the organisation.
Impact assessments are required for all policies, practices and procedures.
Data collection and reporting
