About Get a Plan
So what is GAP?
It stands for the Get A Plan programme, which was a training programme which ran from 2004 – 2007 in the south east of England created by Arts Council England South East to support arts organisations with increasing disabled people’s access to what they offer.
It was started by Sarah Pickthall, who was working at Arts Council England, South East. She commissioned Jo Verrent, of ADA inc, to develop and deliver a training programme, and in the final year a fledgling site was established.
The site attracted a large number of hits, and started to become 'known' around the UK and further afield as a place where useful, easy to understand information was held and so in 2010, the site was refreshed - and became the site you are now accessing.
Over its original three year history, the programme worked with a range of arts organisations – including Glyndebourne Opera, Lewes, Pallant House Gallery, Chichester, the Gulbenkian Theatre, Canturbury and many, many more. And we'd like even more organisations to join in - we're starting an ebulletin which will go out seasonally (four times a year) which any arts organisation can sign up to. The first will go out in May - why not sign up now from the home page and you can keep in touch?
