Any area that is not relevant to your organisation can be ignored, but do check that it is genuinely irrelevant and not just wishful thinking! Programming issues, for example, should be relevant in some way to all arts organisations.

Anything you do already is obviously part of your common practice - so congratulations!
For anything which is ‘planned’, you should be able to determine whether it is planned to occur in the short, medium or long term. You may have different timescales for this, but usually short term relates to the next six months, medium term the next twelve months and long term within the next three years. These can be put into your action plan.

Then you need to look at the areas where action is needed and determine what actions you are going to take. You need to decide when you will be able to tackle them, or at least discuss them further. You might decide to have a specific board/staff/ department meeting or even a retreat to discuss them and determine a course of action. Once you have decided what to do to tackle a specific point, this can be added into your action plan.

Some organisations like to create their plans in list format, others have used a grid format. Why not start with a template?
