Disabled people aren’t just a group in themselves, they are in all your audience groups – children and young people, older people, people from all ethnic categories – disability does not discriminate.
Everyone in the arts wants to attract new audiences and keep the audiences they have and with disabled people making up part of one in four households across the UK, targeting disabled people is an important part of that. Don’t forget that disabled people are in all your audience segments though – so ensuring access is vital for all audience development work, not just work specifically targeted at disabled people.
